so this week started with the ever UNpopular staff development day for the teachers while the kids had a day off! one good thing about these days, though, is that we actually get to eat lunch at a normal speed instead of inhaling it, and we get to eat at a restaurant! our team chose outlaws! yum.....

i also finally hosted bunco at my house monday night. we had lots of fun, as usual!
tuesday morning as i was getting ready for school colby came in and said his stomach hurt. that's not unusual because his stomach will hurt when he's hungry, and he hadn't eaten breakfast yet. so i fixed him a bowl of cereal, and headed to the shower. just as i was getting out i heard a knock on the door. colby said, " i have to tell you something....i think i'm gonna puke." and he did.
i got to frantically prepare for a sub so i could stay home with him.
he and smudge just laid around all day while i graded papers.

colby was still sick on wednesday, but daryl stayed home with him while i went to work. since it was wednesday i stayed home from church with colby because daryl is the preacher and all....
i called daryl a few minutes before church started to ask him when colby last had medicine. i could tell something was wrong with him just by the tone of his voice. he said, "i'm going to kill your child. he lost his flipper." don't worry, he wasn't literally going to kill spencer! but spencer really did lose his flipper, the fake front tooth that he just got a month ago that's not even paid for yet!!!
he and some boys were outside before church playing around, and spencer's flipper "just fell out" in the grass! they searched for a while, but never found it. about 20 minutes after i talked to daryl, spencer called. he sounded so pitiful. he was outside in the dark at church all alone still looking for his tooth! he asked if i would bring him a coat, gloves and a hat because he was freezing. i knew he was worried, so i bundled up and went to the church to find him.
daryl told his class what had happened and few minutes after i got there, some of our church family came out to help us look! it was soooo cold out there! but we had to find it because a snow storm was coming in a few hours so we couldn't wait until morning. we searched for an hour, and i was about ready to give up and let spencer spend the next four years with a big hole in his smile! i'd been praying the whole time that god would show us the tooth. i just KNEW he would, and that's why i didn't stop looking. a little after an hour i finally found it!

today was a snow day! that storm last night dumped about 4 inches of snow on us! woo hoo!
i spent half of the day working on one of my "wanna-do's" for 2011. i want to knit a pair of socks! i had gotten pretty far when i realized that i messed up! ugh! i've started over several times now, but i'm not giving up! i am determined to conquer double pointed needles!
