blizzard

well, it happened.  the blizzard that everyone kept talking about really, actually happened.  we've been snowed in our house since monday night.  good times.

i've been a cooking fool since we've trapped!  monday night i made a huge pot of stew, at spencer's request! that was surprising.  as i was chopping vegetables i found this little {dead} guy on my celery.

i opted NOT to go out into the blizzard tuesday. i could see everything just fine from inside my house.  i don't like being cold.  these next pictures are from our courtyard which is smack dab in the middle of our house.  notice the little snowman disappearing....

gone...in about 3 hours.

it's been great weather for knitting, so tuesday night i decided it was time to finish my sock!  ta da!!!!

it is finished

school was cancelled again wednesday, and we all slept in.  so nice....colby climbed in our bed sometime that morning for some snuggles.  i love snuggles.

smudge found a warm spot for an afternoon nap.

the boys couldn't take it any longer.  they had to get out in the snow and play!  {i went outside long enough to take their pictures!}

this is the beginning of their snow tunnel.

spencer was going to throw this snowball at colby, but as soon as he did it fell apart in mid-air!  ha ha!

daryl was shoveling the driveway and adding to their tunnel.

smudge was whining to go out with everyone else, so i carried him out.  the boys wanted him to come play with them so badly.  i knew as soon as i let him down that he would run away.

but i let the smudge go anyway...

and ran right over to some teenage girls!  he's such a flirt!

they loved on him for a little bit and then gave him to colby.  as colby was walking back holding smudge in his arms, he fell and smudge got away again!  where did he go?  right back to the girls!!!  he won't come to us when we call him, but those girls were giggling and calling his name and he went right to them!

spencer got him this time and brought him back to me.

do you see the feet sticking out of the tunnel?  they are almost through!

colby is making the maiden voyage through their tunnel.

i got distracted by this tree beside me while i was waiting on colby to make it through.  it's a happy tree.

"c'mon colby!"

"VICTORY!!"

it wasn't quite as easy for spencer to fit through the tunnel.

he moaned and groaned the whole way through.

it was like he was giving birth or something.  sheesh!

colby made a snow angel while spencer was trying to get through the tunnel.

spencer was covered in snow after that!

when spencer came in his wrists and ankles were swollen from being so cold!  colby was mad when daryl made him come in even though he was frozen, too!
